I have a Raymarine AIS 500 unit running as a receive only device. I've found the part number for the GPS head I'll need to upgrade it to a transponder, also I already have an MMSI number ready to program in. Will proAIS help me to make the conversion, program in the MMSI etc?

Yes, the proAIS application is used to configure and customize the Raymarine devices. However, each version of proAIS is developed especially for a certain product. It means that you can't use the version for AIS650 to program and update the firmware on AIOS500.
I've searched on the official website, and the AIS500 model doesn't appear to be available. You will have to contact them in order to obtain additional information and downloads.
I would like to read the AIS Information on my Android tablet. Is there something like proAIS for Android?

Unfortunately, this product is developed to run only on Windows based systems. The developer didn't released until this point a version that can be used on Android devices. However, you can use the Android Informer's database to find and obtain a download link for a similar application.
Yes, it is possible to input the draught of the vessel into the broadcast details using the program "proAIS" for Windows.
